About the event
Intergenerational Healing: A Multimodal Approach to Sandtray in Play Therapy for
Parent-Child Repair
Speaker: Ana Gomez, MC, LPC
Date: Thursday, June 18, 2026
Time: 9 am to 1:15 pm (please note this is Pacific Time)
This workshop explores the integration of Sandtray Therapy in play therapy within a multimodal, phase-oriented
framework focused on the first phase of trauma treatment: gathering history and information,
understanding relational patterns, and restoring safety, stability, and connection. Participants will
learn how Sandtray Therapy can support the assessment of complex intergenerational trauma and
relational wounds while fostering co-regulation, co-homeostasis, and parent-child repair.
Using individual, dyadic, and systemic sandtray-based play therapy interventions, participants will learn practical
ways to develop a multidimensional understanding of children, caregivers, and family systems.
Strategies will be explored to identify patterns of disconnection, survival responses, and inherited
relational adaptations while creating opportunities for reciprocity, attunement, and relational
coherence.
This highly experiential workshop incorporates demonstrations, experiential exercises,
reflection, and practical application, allowing participants to actively engage with Sandtray
processes while deepening their understanding of assessment and relational repair with play therapy clients.
This experiential workshop includes hands-on sandtray activities. Please have a sandtray and a minimum of 20 figures available for participation.

narratives in play therapy.
3. Apply practical strategies utilizing Sandtray Therapy in play therapy to support assessment, co-
regulation, and the restoration of co-homeostasis and relational coherence.
4. Utilize individual, dyadic, and systemic sandtray interventions that strengthen resources,
promote safety, and support parent-child repair during play therapy sessions.
