Description: This workshop integrates the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics with clinical play therapy to help clinicians match brain-based interventions to children’s developmental needs. Through sensory-rich, relational, and multisensory play therapy techniques, participants will learn practical strategies to promote co-regulation and improve treatment outcomes for children impacted by trauma and developmental stressors.

Objectives:

  • Describe the sequence of engagement described by Dr. Bruce Perry and the relationship this has to play therapy treatment planning.

 

  • Describe how the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics supports play therapy treatment.

 

  • Identify at least 2 specific play therapy techniques for each dysregulated region of the brain described.

 

  • Apply how playful multisensory play activities promote resilience.

 

  • Describe the role of co-regulation on development.

 

  • Describe basic regions of the brain and how their functions manifest in symptoms and behavior in children in play therapy treatment.

 

 

Cost: Registration donation is optionally suggested at $120. The speakers in the Harris Family Play Therapy Courses series have all donated their time as has the CE sponsor.
