Sacred Healing of Spiritual Wounds with Sandtray in Play Therapy

Speaker: Marshall Lyles, LMFT-S, LPC-S, RPT-S

Date: Friday, July 24, 2026

Time: 9 am to 1:15 pm (please note this is Central Time)

Description:

There is room in this world for a wide range of spiritual convictions and expressions,

regardless of whether religion plays a role in those belief systems. However, there can

be a number of barriers to accessing personally safe spirituality, including the

unprocessed impact of spiritual wounds. Finding ways to connect with your version of

innate spirituality can be a powerful resource and all who desire this deserve spaces for

empowered exploration. Play therapy with sandtray is often spoken of as sacred,

allowing it to be a concrete way to access the healing potential of individually expressed

spirituality. How do honor the sacred in sandtray? How do we explore spirituality without

agendas? This webinar will explore these topics. As a highly experiential workshop, this

includes a number of hands-on sandtray activities. Please have a sandtray and figures

on hand or access to a virtual sandtray program.

Learning Objectives

1. Describe the potential role of spirituality in healing using sandtray in play therapy.

2. Discuss the meaning of “sacred” as an often-used term to describe sandtray

materials and processes in play therapy.

3. Discuss how to use sandtray for safe spiritual exploration in play therapy.

4. Apply sandtray to healing spiritual wounds in play therapy with clients of all ages.
