Description
:
There is a reason you are a therapist. Beyond certifications, the limitations of the language of our field, and even what you were taught about “doing” therapy, you navigated many obstacles to earn the right to be involved in this healing profession. This one-day webinar (a condensed version of a nine month program) will discuss how to remain connected to, and even reclaim, the original parts of yourself that were drawn to the field while inviting those parts into dialogue with concepts and practices from your therapeutic training. Drawing upon therapeutic processes not traditionally offered in graduate school and professional trainings, this webinar will examine deeper parts of relational neuroscience, attachment theory, and parts work that ask our whole selves to be involved in healing work.
Objectives
:
Discuss historical roots to the field of psychotherapy
Describe multicultural perspectives that speak to non-clinical views of what it means to be a therapist and a healer
Describe expressive arts tools that could improve therapist’s reflective capacity when exploring their relationship with the therapeutic field as well as their clients
Compare modern attachment theory to ancient healing practices
Discuss relational neuroscience as it relates to navigating complexities of the therapist relationship and identity as healer
Apply parts work concepts to person of the therapist exploration
