Working with Breath, Body and Containment in Clay
Facilitators:
Marshall Lyles and Jacob Rapp
Date:
January 3-4, 2025 (9a - 4p cst for both days)
Description:
This group experience is for anyone who identifies as a healer and is interested in clay work as a means to further connection with the concepts of body and container. Jacob Rapp will focus on supporting the group to look at how the body and breath interrelate with many facets of our lives. Through understanding the journey of how the breath flows from the nose and down to the diaphragm, we can learn how our inner and outer world affects our breath.
Marshall Lyles will facilitate the clay portions of the retreat as participants will work with creating containers on day one and a human torso on day two. The goal for this retreat is to enhance somatic awareness of breath while increasing nurturing contact with the ideas of “containment” and “body”.
The class will meet for two days. Some of the work will feature creating a clay piece based on a live model. The creations are not meant to be kept; the class emphasizes process over product.
Time will be devoted to verbal processing of the personal responses to the clay work. No previous art experience required.
Registration information:
Participants will need to attend both days. The total cost is $400 and payment is due at registration. All materials are provided. This is purely an expressive process group and no CEs are offered. Class numbers will be kept low.
