Bio and ServicesMarshall Lyles, LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT-S, EMDRIA Approved Consultant, has over 20 years of practice in family and play therapy. He has extensive speaking and training experience and has worked in a variety of mental health settings. Most of Marshall’s clinical practice has focused on attachment trauma and its effect on family relationships. Marshall conducts consultation sessions with counseling professionals and leads training for both parents and professionals; much of his consultation and training focuses on the use of sandtray and other expressive therapies for those impacted by trauma.

ConsultationConsultation is offered for clinicians working toward national RPT certifications, EMDR certifications, and any practitioners looking to further develop skills in experiential modalities, especially sandtray therapy.
RPT and EMDR consultations occur in individual and group settings. Limited spots are available and are typically filled 2-3 months in advance. Other consultation services are provided in person, or when appropriate, via web conferencing. Marshall is not accepting new consultees, but you can check back here from time to time for updates. |

Marshall's speaking topics have recently focused on developing expressive play and sandtray therapy skills, encouraging relational parenting perspectives, addressing person-of-the-therapist issues, improving systemic interventions, utilizing metaphor in therapy (with poetry, for example), promoting secure attachment relationships in families and increasing trauma-informed knowledge. WritingAs part of Marshall's Ph.D. requirements, he is writing on adoptive parent-child relationships and sandtray therapy. In the meantime, he is interested in other writing opportunities that fall within his scope of expertise.
Marshall has previously authored and co-authored works, including book chapters, journal articles, and magazine articles, that relate to counseling supervision, play therapy, sandtray therapy, adoption, and EMDR. Most recently, Marshall and Dr. Linda Homeyer authored Advanced Sandtray Therapy: Digging Deeper into Clinical Practice. Marshall authored a chapter in the book, EMDR with Children and Play Therapy. As Marshall is nearing the completion of his Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy, more writing opportunities are emerging and this has become a passionate point of interest for him. This includes non-academic writing like poetry and Marshall is currently pursuing certification as a poetic medicine practitioner.
