Expressive therapies are ideally suited for trauma-informed work due to their utilization of all the senses, their honoring of client timing, and their embrace of metaphor. This workshop will overview some of the expressive therapies with practice time allotted for trauma-sensitive applications, taking special consideration for the added complexities of working with those with attachment and trauma. This workshop will be highly experiential and will cover a substantial amount of relevant relational neuroscience.
Objectives:
1.
Overview major tenets of expressive therapies
2.
Discuss trauma-informed concepts involved in expressive therapies
3.
Discuss relevant trauma-informed relational neuroscience
4.
Overview how attachment style affects resiliency
5.
Practice trauma-informed specific interventions from different types of expressive therapies
6.
Practice expressive therapy treatment planning for those affected by attachment trauma
