    Sandtray:  An Attachment-Friendly Tool for Play Therapy Across the Lifespan

    Description: This two-day course, led by Marshall Lyles, LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT-S, EMDR Consultant, will consist of a combination of lecture, group discussion, and experiential activities as participants learn about the application of attachment theory to play therapy through the use of sandtray.

    Objectives:

    1. Discuss history of attachment theory and play therapy
    2. Overview methodology of attachment-based play therapy through use of sandtray protocols and techniques
    3. Understand the perspectives offered by the relational neurosciences on expressive play therapy (in the sandtray)
    4. Practice attachment-based play therapy interventions in the sandtray
    5. Prepare participants for structuring play therapy parent consultations to set parents up for sandtray success
    6. Apply sandtray-based protocols to play therapy treatment planning with kids, adults, and systems
    7. Receive coaching on sandtray and play therapy skills
    8. Enhance attachment-focused case conceptualization for family play/sandtray therapy clients

    APT-approved education hours (APT Approved Provider 17-508) will be provided. The class offers 12 education hours. This class is ideal for someone already possessing basic sandtray and attachment theory knowledge. Experiential learning will be prominent so be aware that you may encounter sensitive information when practicing the expressive techniques.

    Dates:  July 12-13, 2019

    Schedule (for both days):
    8:45- 9 am- arrival and registration
    9-10:30- workshop
    10:30 – 10:45- break
    10:45 – 12:15- workshop
    12:15 – 1:30- lunch
    1:30 – 3pm- workshop
    3 – 3:15- break
    3:15 – 4:45- workshop


    Cost:
    $345 (earliest bird) through February 28, 2019

    $375 (early bird) between March 1 & June 16, 2019
    $395 registration received June 17, 2019 and after
    ​Student Rate: $295 (must show proof of current graduate school enrollment)

    While this class is a stand alone event, it is being offered consecutively to Robyn Gobbel’s "Engaging the Body in Play Therapy: Movement, Rhythm and Sensory Play".     Payment for the training is due when you register below. Cancellation prior to June 17, 2019, will be reimbursed minus a $35 fee. After that date, your registration can be transferred to another person, but the responsibility for transfer falls on the registrant. Due to the nature of the event, registration commits you to both days. Partial CEs cannot be provided.
