Gael Thompson / Healing Leaves Pottery
What began as playing in clay with my children, morphed into self-care and finally into an expression of my heart. I have always enjoyed creating and crafting in many forms, but the primordial nature of clay grounds me and gives expression to soul and heart. I make functional pieces, but I especially enjoy making pieces that express spiritual truth, stories and connectedness. During a time of deep spiritual reflection, expression of my experiences came in the form of images rather than words. So I began creating those images out of clay. The pieces connected with others who asked me to make pieces for them and so emerged “Healing Leaves Pottery.” Relationships are my heart and I believe are what give life meaning, so my pieces express relationship to God, family, friends, and community. I especially love hands, trees, nature, symbols and powerful words, all for what they communicate. I hope you will be drawn to a piece for what it says to you.
