Making room at the table: Using sandtray therapy to safely recognize and care for dissociative parts (webinar)

    Date: May 23, 2024

Time: 10 am - 1 pm (Central US time)

CEs: It is not yet known if CEs will be available.

Description: Dissociation is a misunderstood and mistreated protector as clinicians are often taught to fear this nervous system adaptation. While dissociation does require special care, clients deserve to have these parts of self to be welcomed into their therapeutic work. Sandtray therapy, when handled carefully, can be utilized in learning to recognize dissociative pockets in clients and provide these states the messages of support they deserve. This virtual workshop will explore these concepts through lecture, case examples, and discussion. No materials are needed for this event.

    Learning objectives:
    1. Discuss dissociation from a nervous system point-of-view
    2. Describe sandtray adaptations when working with complex trauma
    3. Discuss sandtray client behaviors that can reveal pockets of dissociation
    4. Discuss ways for effectively working with spontaneous emergence of dissociation during sandtray therapy sessions

Registration information: The registration fee is $100. The training will occur via zoom. A link will be sent 24 hours ahead of time.

    Cancellation policy: Registration is non-refundable.

Presenter: Marshall Lyles, MA, LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT-S, EMDRIA Approved Consultant
