Using Sandtray Protocols in Play Therapy

Description:
Available to all licensed mental health professionals, this training will blend lecture, discussion, and experience as the basic skills and protocols of sandtray-based play therapy for use with all ages are introduced. This will be a highly interactive training and all participants are required to create sand worlds throughout the two days. Participants will be supplied all needed materials for the training.
Learning objectives:
Discuss how the history of sandtray therapy and play therapy evolved into current day practices
Describe how the awareness of and connection to play therapy materials are applicable to executing sandtray sessions
Discuss standard practices and protocols of sandtray and how to integrate into play therapy with all ages
Discuss play therapy theory-specific prompts for welcoming clients into the process
Apply play therapy skills to processing sand worlds created by clients of all ages
Apply knowledge of play therapy reflective skills and theme analysis to sandtray case studies
Practice sandtray sessions in practice play therapy simulations
Participate in coaching on sandtray and play therapy skills
